Review of Kitty Raises Hell by Carrie Vaughn

Kitty Norville is back in book six of her series, Kitty Raises Hell, and she’s still kicking ass and taking names! In this direct sequel to book five, Kitty and the Dead Man’s Hand, something dangerous is stalking Kitty and her pack in Denver. Something she’s pretty sure was sent by the Band of Tiamat in Las Vegas as revenge for the trouble she caused them. The problem is, while this something smells of fire and brimstone, it’s also invisible.

Faced now with two problems, an invisible attacker and dissent in her pack, who fear she won’t be able to protect them, Kitty enlists the aid of paranormal researchers from a reality TV show called Paradox PI, who happen to be filming in Denver, Las Vegas performer Odysseus Grant and her friend Rick, the master vampire of Denver. To muddy the waters more, a demon hunting vampire named Roman has arrived to offer his services. Rick isn’t willing to pay the price Roman asks, which leaves Kitty with a decision of her own to make. Is she willing to pay the price Roman asks of her to save her friends and family or will they be able to find the solution on their own before it’s too late?

Kitty has quickly become on of my favorite heroines in the style of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. While she may take everything personally, she’s not afraid to ask for help where she can find it, especially if it means saving innocent lives. I’ve also enjoyed the progression of her relationship with now husband Ben. While circumstance may have thrown them together, they’ve formed a powerful bond and make a great pair. I can’t wait for the next Kitty Norville book!
